Heel Pain & Sports Injury Treatment

The team at East Ocean Podiatry continues to surpass patients’ expectations by using the newest technology for non-operative solutions to treat heel pain and sport injuries.

EPAT

EPAT (extracorporeal pulse activation technology) (extracorporeal pulse activation technology) is a non-invasive healing solution that treats Achilles tendonitis, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, and more. With this innovative, FDA-approved therapy, patients experience excellent outcomes without incisions, sutures or needles and the risks associated with invasive procedures.

EPAT uses the powerful technology of acoustic pressure waves to stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself. This involves the destruction of scar tissue, the advancement of healing biologic cells and new blood vessels, and the development of new collagen and elastin to help the body restore and repair itself naturally. This highly effective treatment allows patients to heal quickly and return to normal activity within 24-48 hours.

PRP Therapy

East Ocean Podiatry also offers PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy. This procedure involves harvesting the body’s own cells, isolating the platelets, and injecting them into the injured area. These platelets contain growth factors that stimulate rapid healing.

Most of our sports injuries are treated with non-invasive EPAT therapy alone; however, using PRP in conjunction with EPAT can help stimulate healing at the cellular level, especially in the case of chronic and difficult injuries. Both of these techniques are utilized by some of the most elite athletes and professional sports teams to put valued athletes back in the game.

Both Dr. Dorfman and Dr. Sansone use EPAT and PRP to treat sports related injuries, specifically heel pain, Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, fractures and neuromas.
